Cannot change anything without paying Control 4. Switch a tv, add a channel...

and you have to pay a control 4 dealer to add it to your system. Control 4 do not stand behind their endorsed dealers. If you have a dealer, I used Creative Audio Video and Automation in St. Louis, MO, and they were terrible.

Didn't wired things properly, asked for old equipment just prior to competing installation of new equipment. The message was: give me your old equipment or the new equipment might not work. Anyway, I tried to get the old problems fixed and the dealer said they would not fix their mistakes and the corporate office of Control 4 said its dealers are independent and they are not responsible for any work done by its dealers. Control 4 is also a bad system and allows you no freedom.

Control 4 has access to your system at anytime and you cannot do anything without Control 4 sending a dealer at your expense to add, switch or change anything on your system. AVOID CONTROL 4, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

My take on Control4 is they control us. People stay away from this company if we all got together to air our problems publicly we could probably put Control4 out of business.

And that CEO who makes $360k a year could feel our pain then.

I have the same problems as you with a horrible dealer in North Carolina. I wished I would of read reviews before buying.

One comment on this, my husband used to install control 4 and so we have it in our home. When you sign into your account, there are 3 check boxes that give permission for a dealer to access from anywhere (so that they can access a situation remotely and often fix remotely) and there is a check box where you do or don't allow Control4 to have continuous access.

These are YOUR options that pop up every time you log in to your on-line account. I see it often because hubby still does a lot of consulting for people far away so he logs into their account or the old dealer's account to do work for them.

FYI if you didn't ever read those boxes. Smart Home Oregon also does remote work and can assist by phone (cheaper)

Thank you for this tip, our dealer never went over any of the settings or options with us.

I now have the boxes unchecked and if they need access they will have to call me in order for me to grant it.

The only thing I am not sure about, should have the automatic system updates selected?

The dealer had that box unchecked, and I am trying to figure out why.

Thank you again for the tip!
